Elopement in Venice

These are Rj and Emily, who flew from Atlanta (Georgia-USA) to celebrate their wedding in Venice. A truly extraordinary couple, with whom I spent a really funny couple of days.

The day before the wedding I organized a boat trip in the lagoon for their prewedding photo shoot. We had decided to go to Burano, but along the way we also made a stop in Mazzorbo where we walked in the ancient Venissa vineyard.

Our tour then continued through the canals of Venice, in an amazing sunset light.

On the day of the wedding I met the bride and groom in their hotel for the getting ready photos, and then we took the boat to the island of San Giorgio: here, in the evocative atmosphere of the city in the early morning, among seagulls, few tourists and a some boat passing by, we celebrated their wedding with a very exciting symbolic ceremony.

We spent the rest of the day in Venice, walking around the city, riding a gondola and doing some toasts, but not before a stop at Caffè Florian for a breakfast overlooking the beautiful St. Mark’s Square.

Two days that have also been blessed with a really warm climate for the end of October, perfect weather and a always clear sky; to see these photos one would never say that only a few days later the city was plagued by bad weather and by an exceptional high water that brought its inhabitants to their knees. All the places of these photos have been covered with water, even the beautiful Mazzorbo vineyard. These photos may also serve as a reminder of how precious these places are and how much we all have to work to preserve them.
